OUR CHURCH BUILDING IS NOW OPEN FOR WORSHIPING TOGETHER

Premier Doug Ford has lifted restrictions on church gatherings, up to 30% capacity.  The Pastors and Deacons worked hard this past week to figure out just what that means for Knollwood, and to put the necessary protocols in place for everyone's safety.

We understand that some of you are excited to return to the church building, some of you are unsure, and some of you are not yet ready.  Please take some time to prayerfully consider your own health and comfort level before returning to the church building.

Our on-line services will continue to be broadcasted Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.

Happy Father's Day!

Take some time today to tell your dad, or the father of your children, or someone special in your life, how much he means to you.  Today is the perfect time remember all that our Heavenly Father has done for us, even though we do not deserve it.

Proverbs 23:24: "The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him."

FAMILY WORSHIP — FROM THE NEW CITY CATECHISM

Question 45:  Is baptism with water the washing away of sin itself?

Answer: No, only the blood of Christ and the renewal of the Holy Spirit can cleanse us from sin.

Luke 3:16

John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

JIM FORTNER

Our brother Jim Fortner passed away on Tuesday May 26 after a courageous battle with cancer.  We will miss his smile and his jokes, but we rejoice that he is finally healed and with his Lord.  Our love, prayers, and support go out to his wife Nancy and their family.

WAYS OF GIVING TOWARDS KNOLLWOOD

We know that many people are feeling anxious about their finances in these uncertain times.  But God is faithful.  Givings, tithes and offerings are an act of worship that God uses for the on-going gospel ministry at Knollwood.

The 80th Anniversary Fundraiser has been postponed until the fall.  See the letter from Keith Albion, Chairman of the Deacons' Board, for more details.

https://www.knollwood.ca/news/80th-anniversary-fundraiser-update

Here are a few ways that you can give:

  • Go to https://www.knollwood.ca/pages/giving to give online via debit card or credit card.
  • Through text message by sending a text to 84321 with the amount you want to donate.
  • Via Interac transfer by sending your gift to  treasurer@knollwood.ca
  • Put your offering envelope in the locked mailbox at the church's east doors.  Beth will be checking for  mail daily around 12 noon.
  • Lastly, you can contact Kevin Knight at  treasurer@knollwood.ca  He will arrange for someone to come to your home to pick up your offering.

JUNE UPDATES FROM SOME OF OUR MISSIONARIES AND SUPPORTED AGENCIES

From Ken and Cathy Yinger

We cannot tell you how much your partnership means to us. We know that times are tough in your part of the world, too.  We know that there is so much need and that churches are struggling financially. We are grateful for those who have sacrificed to continue supporting the ministry here.  Thank you for your commitment to the Great Commission.  We are praying for spiritual awakening in this time of a health pandemic and racial unrest.   May God bless you as you bless others.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, as things return to a degree of normalcy, don’t just go back to what you had before.  God is doing something new in and through His people. His heart is for the harvest and He wants to use you in ways you hadn’t imagined. You may have to give up comfort in order to be obedient.

We know that God has Spain on His heart.  Thanks for supporting us in prayer as we show His love to Spaniards in tangible ways.  Let’s pray for each other, that we have Christ’s mind…His imagination…His thoughts.

Their prayer requests are for themselves, and for us as well.

  •  for prepared and changed hearts
  •  to develop significant connections with people
  •  to be able to identify and engage with persons of peace
  •  to find ways to walk with people in their discovery process as they interact with the Bible

From Rebekah Drew

Praise God that we’ve had no further known cases of COVID-19 here in Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the past month! The State of Emergency that PNG’s prime minister declared in March will be coming to an end this month, and we are waiting to find out what will happen next. In the meantime, I’ve made good progress on some projects, and will soon begin preparing to teach Translation Principles at an upcoming Translator Training Course – but we don’t know for sure yet when the course will take place. We asked the Tiaang churches to choose at least three people to attend this course and become new members of our translation team – and they have chosen eight people! We’re quite excited about this. Pray that the timing for the course will become clear soon, and that there won’t be any further cases of COVID-19 in PNG as restrictions are lifted.

From Heritage College and Seminary's June E-News

Thank you for partnering with us and keeping our students, staff and faculty in your prayers at this time. We ask that you continue to pray for Heritage as we equip students and ministry leaders virtually at this time, and as we make plans for the fall semester.

The faculty of Heritage Theological Seminary are presenting free lectures on a variety of topics through a series of live webinar events. To see the schedule, list of topics, and to register, visit DiscoverHeritage.ca/OnlineLectureSeries

From David and Cathy Smith

Thank you for your prayers, love and support. We would appreciate your prayers for us as we continue to regularly work online from home and wait for travel restrictions to change. We have two, firstborn, grandchildren coming this year in October and December!!

If you would like to receive their newsletter, contact Beth at office@knollwood.ca.

From Terry and Joanie Wiley

Terry and Joanie are currently working from Three Hills, Alberta.  Terry has not been able to travel as planned, but he is helping his local church leadership and continuing his studies.  Joanie is missing helping at the Pregnancy Centre.  She is having window visits with her parents who are in a seniors' residence.

Their prayer requests are as follows:

  • Pray for Ethiopian churches to find creative ways to worship while staying safe
  • Pray for Ethiopian believers to be able to support their leadership financially
  • Pray that they would be a blessing to people around them

From Barney and Adelia Robison

Barney and Adelia are home from the Gambia and are winding down their ministry in preparation for retirement.  In their March letter, they wrote "There was joy, amongst the tears shed in saying good-byes, so soon to leave, with people we have poured our lives and time into; salvation, 10 baptisms, disciples, and counseled in their walk with God. ... but we look forward to see what God has next for us to do, once we have rested and medical things have cleared up."

Here are their prayer requests:

  • Their daughter, Heidi, had her first baby on March 21.  Please pray for recovery after complications from her emergency C-section.
  • Making right decisions concerning where to settle down
  • Journeying mercy as they finish reporting to their churches
  • Barney as he finishes up his Doctorate Course

LOOKING FOR PRACTICAL WAYS TO HELP IN THE COMMUNITY?
