NEW! -- Family Zone -- an Alternative to Nursery

Calling all families who are missing Church Nursery!  Until we are able to offer a nursery program for our littlest church family members, why not check out our Family Zone!  We have created a comfortable place for parents and their young children in the cafe corner.  Kids can play while parents watch and listen to the service through the windows in the lobby.  Please bring your own books and toys. Drinking and snacking are strongly discouraged.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY UPDATES

We are running a slightly shorter children's program for Jk-Gr 5 during the preaching portion of our service.

We are seeking to take necessary precautions during the program including doing it outside (weather permitting), keeping socially distanced, providing masks and hand sanitizer and making sure necessary surfaces are cleaned.

Since we will be outside, we ask if families could bring blankets or towels for the kids to sit on while they are outside if they so desire.

If you are unable to attend, we will continue to provide the lesson video and activity sheets on our website, as well as our Family Worship teaching through our live service. (See below).

At this time, we are still unable to supply regular nursery services but hope to safely do so in the future.

FAMILY WORSHIP — FROM THE NEW CITY CATECHISM

Question 4: How and why did God create us?

Answer: God created us male and female in his own image to know him, love him, live with him, and glorify him. And it is right that we who were created by God should live to his glory.

Children's Answer: God created us male and female in his own image to glorify him.

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

UPDATES FROM SOME OF OUR MISSIONARIES

David and Cathy Smith --  David and Cathy are thankful that Cathy continues to recover after her weeks of illness and for the excellent care of their family doctor.  She still has to have extra rest and be cautious mixing with anyone outside their usual bubble of immediate family.

If you would like to receive their newsletter, contact Beth at [email protected]

Ken and Cathy Yinger -- Spain

Ken and Cathy write in their latest newsletter that there are days when it's been really, really hard. Covid 19 numbers are beginning to rise again with tourists coming into Spain, it has been intolerably hot, they are missing their children and grandchildren, and they are concerned about both their mothers. They write: "However, God is always so good, so creative in His ways to remind us that He is sovereign.  He is in control.  He is the one who called us, He is the one who will work in and through and around us in His good time.  The only thing He asks of us is obedience."

"More than anything, we ask you to pray that we will rest in Him, expect Him to open doors that only He can, and have eyes to see and ears to hear.  Pray for wisdom for government leaders as they make decisions about handling the pandemic.  Pray for our Fellowship International colleagues, and for our World Horizons partners here in Extremadura. Pray for the pastors and leaders of the evangelical churches across Extremadura, that they will seek God’s plan for moving forward.  He is doing new things!"

Rebekah Drew -- Papua New Guinea

Rebekah’s Prayer Requests and Praise Items for the month of August:

  • PRAISE God that COVID-19’s impact in PNG has been relatively minimal so far. PRAY that the current outbreak in Port Moresby will be well-contained and not spread to other parts of the country.
  • PRAY for wisdom for me and Jessie [her teammate] and the others involved regarding the timing for holding the Translator Training Course. Pray that all the people who want to attend the course will be able to attend.
  • PRAY that Jessie and I will be productive in our work here in Ukarumpa, that we will use our time here well.
  • PRAISE God for the new physiotherapist here, and that my back pain is dramatically decreasing! Please continue to PRAY for complete healing.
  • PRAY for me as I continue to process my recent painful relationship situation. PRAISE God for the gift of spiritual and emotional resilience that he has given me at this time.
  • Several key families are trying to return to PNG, including our Director and some of our medical staff. So far, people have been able to leave PNG to return to their home country, but no one has been able to come back. Flights tend to get cancelled at the last minute. Please PRAY that nothing will happen to prevent the return of these coworkers in August.

  • Pray for a clear mind, good memory, and God's blessing for their son Frank as he takes his oral exams for his Masters of Theology in August.
  • Pray for grace and strength for Joanie's father, and for Terry and Joanie as well.
  • Pray for the pastors of Ethiopian churches to find peace and wisdom as they deal with family issues, financial issues, and unrest in the country.
