Flight to Egypt | Matthew 2:13-23

Suffering can feel random, even cruel — like evil is winning. But Matthew 2:13–23 shows us that even in suffering, God is not absent. From Joseph’s flight to Egypt, to the weeping of Bethlehem’s mothers, to the quiet return to Nazareth, every step of Jesus’ early life was guided by God’s sovereign hand.

In this message, Pastor Nathan unpacks how Jesus is the true Son who fulfills Israel’s story, why God preserved Him as an infant, and how this passage helps us trust God when life feels out of control. You’ll learn how to lament honestly, find hope in God’s promises, and respond with trust and obedience — even when the way forward seems uncertain.

Even in suffering, God is working out His plan. In Matthew 2:13–23, we see God protect His Son, comfort the grieving, and faithfully lead Joseph’s family — showing that Jesus is the true Son who fulfills God’s sovereign purposes. This sermon calls us to trust God’s care, lament honestly, and live with hope, knowing His plans cannot be stopped.
