God, Man, and a Messed Up World | Genesis 50

In this concluding message from the Genesis series, Pastor Chris helps us see the goodness of God’s sovereign hand in a broken world. Through Joseph’s story in Genesis 50, we are reminded that while we live in a world filled with grief, betrayal, and sin, God is always working out His perfect and redemptive plans.

This sermon walks through three key realities:

Lament in a Messed-Up World – It’s right to weep and lament when facing the pain of death and sin, but Christians do so with hope, trusting in a sovereign God who sees and cares.
God’s Good Plans in a Messed-Up World – Even when others mean evil, God means it for good. Pastor Chris points to the life of Joseph—and ultimately to Jesus—as proof that God’s purposes cannot be thwarted by human sin.
A Future Hope in a Messed-Up World – Joseph’s dying words looked forward to God’s promise being fulfilled. We too can trust in the God who will one day make all things new through Jesus Christ.

No matter how broken the world feels, this sermon calls us to trust, forgive, and hope—because God is not absent or indifferent. He is present, powerful, and accomplishing His good plans, even through messed-up people in a messed-up world.
