Signs That Point to the Kind of Messiah Jesus Is | Matthew 16

Who is Jesus? Peter gives the right answer: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” But in Matthew 16, Jesus reveals that knowing who he is is only part of the story. He is not the Messiah many expected. He is the suffering King who would go to the cross, rise from the dead, and call every disciple to follow him in the same way of self-denial and faith.

In this sermon, we explore how Jesus’ signs reveal not only his identity but also the true nature of his kingdom and the cost—and joy—of following him. As surely as the tomb is empty, every promise Jesus has made will come to pass. The question is not simply, Who do you say Jesus is? but, Will you embrace the kind of Messiah he actually is?
